Chief Instructor, Mr Seamus McGinley is a 5th Degree Black Belt who has been training in Tae Kwon Do for over 24 years and is a qualified GTI Instructor, Umpire and Referee. He is currently in training for his 6th Dan grading.
Seamus is also National Secretary for the association Excalibur Martial Arts is proud to be affiliated with, Global Taekwondo International (G.T.I.), and project manages the G.T.I.’s tournaments, seminars, charity fundraisers and many other events.
As well as having competed himself at National and Regional level, winning medals and trophies in Patterns and Sparring, he has also trained Regional, National and International Championship winners.
Additionally, Seamus is an experienced Secondary School teacher (BSc Hons, QTS, & PGCE) and has three children of his own, who train at Excalibur Martial Arts; Connor, 15, who achieved 1st Dan Junior Black Belt in October 2013 and 2nd Dan Junior Black Belt in October 2017; Erin, 12, who achieved 1st Dan Junior Black Belt in October 2015 and 2nd Dan Junior Black Belt in October 2017 and Reilly, 10, who was promoted to 1st Dan Junior Black Belt in October 2017 (yes, October 2017 was a very stressful month!).
Assistant Instructor, John Bradley, 1st Dan has been training with Excalibur since 2007 and was awarded his GTI Instructor Certificate in 2013.
Excalibur is very fortunate to have a number of students in the process of qualifying as GTI Assistant Instructors: Mr Dean Lewis, 2nd Dan; Mr Dave Holloway, 1st Dan, Mr Alan Edwards, 1st Dan; Mr Declan Kearney, 1st Dan; Mr Karl Thompson, 1st Dan; Mrs Tammy Lewis, 1st Kup; Mrs Julie Rose, 2nd Kup and Mr Luke Richardson, 3rd Dan. Students attend a course with Mr Paresh Bhadeshia, 6th Dan, and then are practically assessed by their own and other existing GTI Instructors until they reach the required competency, at which point they are awarded their Certificate.
Excalibur Martial Arts is proud to be the longest established Tae Kwon Do club in Bridgnorth (over 24 years!) and has been a member of Global Taekwondo International (the G.T.I.) since the association was founded in 1993. Seamus officially took over from Mr Barry Hadley in January 2004 and since then, the club has gone from strength to strength, with currently more than 70 members. Three of Excalibur’s former students have also gone on to open their own Tae Kwon Do clubs in Shropshire.
All Excalibur Instructors hold an enhanced level DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service – previously CRB) check, Instructors Liability and Public Indemnity Insurance and hold a current First Aid qualification.
Our school is fully equipped with a variety of training equipment available to enhance your lessons, from Junior and Senior BOBs (Body Opponent Bags) to focus pads, kick shields, knife defence weapons, kick paddles, skipping ropes, grappling dummy, focus mitts and more.
At Excalibur, parents/carers and siblings are welcome, and encouraged, to stay and watch sessions at back of class. The Leisure Centre vending machines in the foyer are available for hot/cold drinks and snacks.
Additionally, free parking is available in the Leisure Centre car park and male and female toilets and changing facilities are located next to the dojang (training hall).
