Tae Kwon Do is a Military Martial Art developed in Korea with roots in Karate, Ju Jitsu and Kung Fu. In fact, like many martial arts, there is only so much you can do against two arms and two legs. The physics of the human body is well known and when you get past the different styles it is clear that learning a Martial Art puts you at an advantage against an untrained opponent.
Tae Kwon Do’s founder, General Choi Hong Hi was keen to emphasise the role of Physics in generating Power and its devastating deadliness in combat during the Korean War. Because of this, and its willingness to delve into what makes an effective technique from a range of fighting styles, Tae Kwon Do is perhaps the most widely practiced defence system in the world.
At Excalibur Martial Arts you can expect success and to excel. To achieve this, we focus on the whole student. As well as effective fighting skills we encourage Courtesy to others, Self Discipline and an attitude that anything is possible with work, school and life’s challenges.
The five tenets of Tae Kwon Do are guiding principles to be observed by all students, from White Belt to Dan Grade Black Belts.
